Monkeys Audio is a what
you would call a loss-less compressor, that is
when a monkeys audio file is played the resulting
rendition is exactly the same (quality wise) as the
original. Unlike Mp3, WMA and other similar
compression methods, which throw away sound information
in the name of higher compression rates. The downside to
Monkeys approach is that compression ratios will only be
4:1 at best. Spoon- likes Monkeys Audio, so much
so it is the compression type of choice used for my own
music collection. Monkeys Audio files are able to
contain ID Tags embedded, such as Artist, Track Name,
etc. |
